RB Productions Rivet-R Mini Riveting Tool for Model Railroading2 min read

Rivet-R Mini from RB Productions - HO Scale Customs

We know there is some controversy in the fine scale modeling world (especially in HO or 1:87 scale) if you would even see the nail holes in a model.

Some people add them to models, others don’t like them or they believe you wouldn’t be able to see them.

And that’s fine! We can all agree to disagree on this, and this is just for us heathens that like to add some nail holes to our structures!

This is the Rivet-R Mini Riveting tool from RB Productions!

Thanks to another awesome modeler we were able to get our hands on this cool and compact little tool that every fine scale modeler should have, no matter what they’re modeling.

We focus on fine scale model railroading in HO Scale, so this will do great for adding nail holes to our wood structures and any metal (plastic) items on our models and layout that needs rivets.

The cool thing about this Rivet-R mini is that it fits directly into your hobby knife and it comes with 4 different sizes including:

  • .75mm
  • 1mm
  • 1.25mm
  • 1.50mm

The little riveting wheels are very easy to switch out for other sizes by loosening the screw and nut and swapping wheels.

Be careful though not to over-tighten the screw and nut as your wheel won’t spin freely as you need it to. At the same time you need to make sure it isn’t too loose or it will wobble as you run it along your model surface, giving you crooked and shaky rivet lines!

There are a lot of places in the US to order this neat little tool and it’s something that is small and easy to store, and makes use of your hobby knife for more than just cutting! It’s a perfect compact replacement for a pounce wheel and it offers a few different sizes.

Here’s a link to it from MegaHobby (no affiliation or affiliate links here):

You can see in the video, that the results are pretty clear and straightforward, it makes four different nail holes and does a great job at it!
